In a backroom meeting with 6 "sportswriters", DEP officials in CT supposedly have established a consensus in support of a saltwater fishing license. Does anyone have more info? Lots of unanswered questions; like will there be reciprocity with NY and RI or will one need three licenses? Justification is that the feds want more accurate data on the recreational catch. How about an on-line data entry site instead?

I love fishing. I don't get to go often enough, but I get out to Hampton Bays NY once or twice a summer.
I've caught lots of fluke, searobins, and skates (I hate skates). Never a flounder yet. And this year I caught my first keeper striped bass in Shinnecock inlet. Last year, I caught a 10lb 12 oz fluke in Shinnecock bay. For fluke, we use Killies or spearing with a strip of squid or fluke belly, as you mention. And I've fished for stripers using live eels, but I caught my striper using clam. Years ago, we'd go out into the bay and catch our limit within an hour, now it's slim pickins.
